The questions you might have.

The practical stuff, the not-so-obvious stuff, and a few things we think you should know.

01 / Fit & sizing

Do your pieces run true to size?

Our pieces tend to run a little small. We’ve had a few customers who needed to size up, so here’s our advice. If you’re usually an S, stick with S. But if you’re often between an S and an M, we’d recommend going for the M.

Are your leggings squat-proof?

100%. And we mean it. Squat, stretch, bend, do your thing. Our leggings are designed to stay opaque, even when the fabric is stretched.

Can I mix sizes between tops and bottoms?

Of course. Bodies aren’t made in matching sets. Our tops and bottoms are sold separately, so you can choose whichever sizes work best for you.

Can I try stubbrn on before buying?

Yes, if you are in Madrid. We’re online, but not exclusively. You can find STUBBRN at selected studios and retail spaces around Madrid. Check our Stockists page to find your nearest location. Just bear in mind that not every location carries every style, colour or size.

Are your pieces suitable for high-intensity workouts?

We design stubbrn for movement, but not every piece serves the same purpose. Some styles offer more support and compression than others. Whether you’re heading to Pilates, barre, strength training or something more intense, we’re happy to help you choose the right piece.

02 / Fabrics & production

Where are your pieces made?

The fabrics are Italian. The craftsmanship is Portuguese. And the ideas start in Madrid.

Why Italian fabrics?

Because we liked what we found there. Italy has a long history of technical textile development, and we work with suppliers that specialize in performance fabrics. We wanted materials that felt good, performed well and allowed us to create the designs we had in mind.

What makes your fabrics different?

A few things. We use technical fabrics selected for their stretch, recovery, comfort and performance. These are made with ECONYL® regenerated nylon. We offer textures and finishes you don’t typically see in activewear.

Wait, is that really velvet?

Yes. But probably not the kind you’re thinking of. Our technical velvet was developed for activewear. It’s designed to stretch, move and handle a lot more than the velvet you’d find in everyday clothing. It might look delicate. It isn’t.

Is technical velvet more delicate than your other fabrics?

Not necessarily. This isn’t traditional fashion velvet. It’s a technical textile specifically designed for activewear, which makes it far more resistant than you might expect. That said, we still recommend treating it with a little extra care when washing. Not because it’s fragile. Because we’d like you to enjoy it for as long as possible.

Why don’t you manufacture in Asia?

Because we wanted to keep our production closer to home. Working with a factory in Northern Portugal allows us to stay involved in the development process, communicate directly with the people making our clothes and visit when needed. It’s a choice we made early on, and one we intend to keep.

Is stubbrn sustainable?

We’d be careful with that word. Making new clothes has an environmental impact. Ours included. What we can tell you is that we manufacture in Portugal, source our fabrics from European suppliers and use ECONYL® regenerated nylon in selected textiles.

03 / Care guide

How should I wash my stubbrn pieces?

Our bottoms can handle a machine wash at up to 30°C. But here’s what we’d actually recommend: treat all your stubbrn pieces to a gentle wash, including your tops. Use a delicate cycle, mild detergent and avoid fabric softeners and bleach. Our fabrics are made to perform. A little care just helps them keep doing that for longer.

Do I need to hand-wash my pieces?

Not necessarily. A gentle machine cycle is a good option. The less unnecessary friction and heat, the better.

Can I iron my stubbrn pieces?

We’d rather you didn’t. But if you absolutely have to, use a low temperature and always place a protective cloth between the iron and the garment. Never put the iron directly on the fabric.

Does the technical velvet need special care?

It’s tougher than it looks. Unlike traditional velvet, ours is specifically developed for activewear. It’s made to stretch, move and withstand regular use. Still, we’d recommend washing it gently to help preserve its texture and performance over time.

How can I make my stubbrn pieces last longer?

Pretty simple, actually. Wash gently. Keep temperatures low. Skip the fabric softener. Avoid the tumble dryer. And don’t iron directly onto the fabric. Technical textiles are designed to work hard. Taking good care of them helps them stay that way.

06 / A little more about stubbrn

Why is it called stubbrn?

Growing up, being stubborn isn’t exactly something you’re praised for. You’re told to stop being so stubborn, to listen, to give in. Funny how that changes as you get older. The same stubborn kid becomes the persistent adult who keeps pushing until achieving it. That’s what stubbrn is about. And, in a way, it’s also how this brand came to life. There were plenty of reasons to quit. But we kept going. Turns out, being stubborn isn’t always such a bad thing.

Why are your pieces more expensive than some other activewear brands?

Because of what goes into making them. We source our technical fabrics from Italy and manufacture in Portugal. That comes at a cost. We know our prices aren’t the lowest out there. We’re not trying to be. We’d rather be upfront about how we make our clothes and let you decide whether they’re worth it.

Will you release more colours and designs?

Yes. We’re working on them. But we’re a small brand, and developing new pieces takes time. Sometimes longer than we’d like. If there’s a colour or design you’d love to see, tell us. We actually read those messages.

Why are some sizes or colours sold out?

Because we don’t produce huge quantities. We’re still learning what people love, which sizes sell fastest and how much stock to make. Sometimes we get it wrong. If something you want is sold out, get in touch. We’ll let you know if we’re planning to bring it back.

Can I suggest something?

Please do. A colour. A fit adjustment. Something you loved. Something you didn’t. We’re still building stubbrn, and the people wearing our clothes are part of that process.

Still have questions?

We’re a small brand. There’s an actual person reading your messages. So if there’s something we haven’t answered, just ask. We’d rather have a conversation than leave you guessing. Talk to us
